Anti Aging Programmes Today

There are different anti aging programmes today.  Each of these programmes target a specific problem that is brought about by changes in the body as one gets older.  Wrinkles, blemishes and sagging skin are some of the common changes that people worry about.  Some facial treatments available in your local beauty salon to tighten your pores and lift your skin without invasive surgery cater to women and men alike.  The overall look of a person is crucial and necessary that one must be informed of the recent trends available to them.  Bear in mind as well that anti-aging programs are not limited to the facial area alone. Treatments for the different parts of the body are also mushrooming, like those for the neck, body, leg and hand area. It is not enough anymore to look young just on the face alone!

The following anti aging programmes are categorized as non-invasive or non-surgical; however, do not quickly assume that no amount of discomfort will follow. Despite this, pain may be minimal and only a little time will be required for rejuvenation.  The programmes are as follows:

o       Laser skin resurfacing - using C02 lasers, the skin is subjected to abrasion and by doing so, the skin will then be allowed to naturally heal on its own. This method is good for medium to deep set wrinkles.

o       LED light therapy – good for fine wrinkles. The light-emitting diodes are non-abrasive and stimulate collagen.

o       Chemical peel – the use of chemicals of varying strengths to remove the topmost layer of skin and promote the production of a new skin layer.

o       Dermabrasion  - from the term itself it uses abrasion to exfoliate the skin.

o       Dermal fillers – add bulk to areas where skin has already collapsed. It is used for the face and hands too.

o       Radio frequency therapy – uses radio waves to halt the nerve signals that control one’s frown lines.

o       Wrinkle relaxing injections – popular today and uses Botox together with dermal fillers.

Whichever treatment a client chooses, it is important that trained personnel or a professional is around to assist the client.  The client must not hesitate to ask questions regarding the treatment – such as its pros and cons, and common complaints regarding it - even before the procedure is done. Anti aging programmes are there to supplement the needs of the client and must not be treated as a panacea.  Give the skin time to heal and rejuvenate in between treatments. It must also be put to mind that these treatments should not be abused and personal care of your body is still best.  A change in lifestyle is a given: avoid smoking and limit your sun exposure. If one has to go out often under the sun, wear protective cover like hats and similar apparel.  Apply sunscreen and constantly moisturize and hydrate whenever possible. Remember that a well-hydrated skin is less likely than dry skin to develop wrinkles. The skin is like any other organ of the body - it requires constant attention and the unwavering care of its master.
